This album is a highly energetic and precise display from start to end. If you are looking for a dry, passionless technical recital of a classic, this isn't it.
The delivery was relatively quick, and to my surprise it was a cassette tape. In fact the shipping cost more then the product. However I'm dis-appointed on the tape quality.the tape dragged from the start and I had to use a pencil insert in the cassette to get it started for rewind and or fast forward. What can I say.$1.98 + $3.98 shipping.Anyway.I call this a loss as there's no use sending it back as cost well exceeds the purchase. When I purchased this CD (so I thought).I figured what a great deal. No big deal as I still have a cassette player, and this explains the $1.98 tag on Amazon dot com.
It was at my door (CA) in just a few days. The CD case and CD were in excellent condition and the shipping was fast. Great service.
Both play with amazing ability and the traditional flamenco is far richer than nouveau. But I have to thank the reviewers who pounded Ottmar mercilessly yet recommended Paco de Lucia and Gerardo Nunez. Even though they are brief, the samples offered on Amazon will give you an idea of the flavor you are missing with Ottmar. There are some brutal reviews here. If you enjoy easy listening, then Nouveau Flamenco will satisfy. "Entre Dos Aguas" and "Antologia Vol 2" by Paco de Lucia and "El Gallo Azul" and "Flamencos in New York" by Gerardo Nunez are highly recommended.
Footnote: Amazon, why don't you allow a rating of zero stars. He should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trading. As a frame of reference, I shall compare it to truly good "new" Flamenco by the likes of Tomatito, Paco De Lucia, Vincente Amigo and Gerardo Nunez. The music doesn't even resemble Flamenco. Seriously: this guy is amateur in the extreme.
You can hear infinitely better stuff in a cheap piano bar.As a guitarist, I've played some pieces by Paco, but if I'm ever asked "Have you played any Liebert", my response shall be "No, but I think I may have stepped in some once". This is utter.utter.UTTER garbage. He does not play Flamenco forms and, it is clear that he he ever tried, he would suck monumentally. I might be willing to let it go if there was any artistic merit in his music, but there is none. He has no technique. I'd normally avoid even commenting on such music, as it is usually not worth my time, but this.whatever.put "flamenco" in the title of his album, so I shall rate it accordingly.
He has no compas. We have pedestrian, repetitive "hey, look I've just learned to play guitar" garbage.
